We want you to be happy with your purchase. This page explains your right to cancel an online order and what to do if an item is faulty. It does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2022.
14-day right to cancel (consumers)
If you are a consumer, you can cancel your order without giving any reason within 14 days of the day you (or someone you nominate) receive the goods. If your order is delivered in several parcels, the 14 days run from receipt of the last parcel.
To cancel, tell us clearly before the 14 days end – for example by email to office@autoelectro.ie with your name, order number and the items you are returning. You may use the model cancellation form below, but you do not have to.
Returning the goods
- Send the goods back within 14 days of telling us you are cancelling.
- Please contact us first – we will give you the return address.
- You pay the direct cost of returning the goods, unless the item is faulty or we sent you the wrong item.
- Pack the goods carefully. You are responsible for any loss in value caused by handling the goods beyond what is needed to check them – for example, items that have been fitted to a vehicle, wired in, or damaged.
Refunds
We refund all payments received for the cancelled goods, including the standard delivery cost, within 14 days of receiving the goods back (or proof that you sent them, whichever is earlier). If you chose a more expensive delivery method than our cheapest standard option, we only refund the cost of the standard option. Refunds are made using the same payment method you used, unless you agree otherwise.
Items that cannot be returned
The right to cancel does not apply to:
- goods made or cut to your specification, such as cable cut to length or custom-made wiring looms;
- sealed goods that are not suitable for return for health protection or hygiene reasons once unsealed;
- goods that, after delivery, have become inseparably mixed with other items.
Faulty or incorrect items
If an item is faulty, not as described or not fit for purpose, you have rights under Irish consumer law. Within 30 days of delivery you can reject the goods and get a full refund. After that, you are entitled to a repair or replacement, and if that is not possible or not done within a reasonable time, a price reduction or refund.
Please email office@autoelectro.ie with your order number, a description of the fault and photos if possible. We will arrange collection or reimburse reasonable return costs for faulty items.
Business customers
The 14-day right to cancel applies to consumers only. Business customers should contact us before returning any goods; returns of unused goods may be accepted by agreement.
